TOPIC: Removing index.php showing in the url

Removing index.php showing in the url 24 Feb 2014 10:11 #4077

Please, i would like to remove index.php showing in the URL. i don't want www.mydomain/index.php/sample but i want it www.mydomain/sample. pls could anyone help me in resolving this but i have tried changing hatccess.txt to .hatccess and i also put one Use URL rewriting and Search Engine Friendly URLs after doing that its started showing 500 internal error.
