JF Slideshow Module cannot be edited 16 Aug 2014 04:46 #5325

Hi,

I'm exploring your Creativia template and find beautiful as well as simple to use. But I've run into a serious problem trying to configure it for an actual website.

I installed your Joomla 2.5 quick start setup on my host. Everything works, however, when I try to edit the JF Slideshow module, no matter what I do to it, even nothing at all...when Save, Save & Close or even the Close button is pushed, the connection get's reset. The status of the module then gets changed to being checked out, when I go back into the administrator backend and view the module manager summary.

Experimenting further, I can change the module's parameters directly by editing its MySQL record. But that's not a very user friendly operation.

Have you run into this problem before and can you suggest a remedy?

Thanks!

- Jeff

p.s. - yes, I have tried uninstalling and then reinstalling the module itself, as well as fresh installs of the whole quick start package.

Just an update. The module can be checked in, published or unpublished from the summary page of the Joomla module manager. So the problem is definitely related to the module edit page itself.

It doesn't matter whether changes have been made or not. When the Save, Save & Close, Save & New or Close buttons are pressed, the connection is reset every time.

I also asked my hosting service to look into it and they did, but could not find any event in the logs to explain why the connection resets when one exits from the module edit page.

As I said previously, there is nothing keeping me from updating the module fields directly in its MySQL record, just not such a fun process to update all the slide details crammed into the parameters field that way.

Since I'm auditioning free Joomla resources for an article I'm writing, this is a deal killer on mentioning your templates. Sorry But I hope my careful observations have been helpful.
