JF Couda Template, Joomla 3.6.5, PHP 5.6.21

After updating to Joomla 3.6.5 this morning, the captcha no longer appears on my contact us form. When I try to send an email anyway, I get an error message that the captcha field cannot be empty. Everything is enabled and configured and worked fine up until the Joomla update.

The captcha appears and works fine when I switch to Protostar template. When I switch back to JF Couda, captcha vanishes into thin air.

I am using the default simple contact form.

Is anyone having a similar problem? Has anyone discovered a solution? I was supposed to go live with this website today....

After waiting a few days without an answer, I fixed it myself with a hack that I am very unhappy about. Since I was under external pressure to get the site online, I simply deleted the lines 29-31 in the default_form.php.

I was hoping someone might have a real fix for the problem.

You have to recreate override contact component for J3.6.5.
