I have downloaded and installed the JF Calla template 3.0 not the quickstart version.
but is it possible to begin from the demo template and start to build from there?

But how can i start right away from the demo template, because if i choose in the template manager the JF Calla Template i have to start from scratch. Or did i do something wrong when installing the template.

You must install quickstart package, download quickstart and install, this is also joomla install, quickstart is like joomla installation with inclusive preconfigured template...
