In trying to display a category blog i would like to have one leading article and 2 columns for all subsequent articles. However, when I select 2 columns, it still only displays as one column.

How can i achieve a 2 column layout when displaying articles in a category?

Same problem here... I cannot get category blog to show one leading article and two columns...
also I cannot get the pics to show on the main blog page.

Is K2 necessary in order to have the same layout as the demo site?

1) You simply have to create a category "Blog".
2) In Category item layout you assign the K2 template "blog" to is.
3) Leading count -> 1
4) Columns for leading -> 1
5) Primary count -> 6
6) Columns for primary -> 2

I had tried to work it out for a while... but I was not using K2... that is why it was not working!!!
I installed K2 and now it looks like it is supposed to!

I've got a similar problem.

I'm running a blog page with 0 leading articles, but then want 2 columns for Primary.

I have my category blog setup to template "blog" and leading count 0, primary count 2, primary columns 2. But only seem to get posts in one half width column?
