We gave up and used WP Fun-Supersized Module instead. Works great.

Try to edit modules/mod_jfslideshow/fields/slideoption.php, modify:
 
<input type="hidden" id="assetsPath" name="assetsPath" value="<?php echo $url.$assetsPath;?>">
 

to:
 
<input type="hidden" id="assetsPath" name="mediaPath" value="<?php echo $url.$assetsPath;?>">
