TOPIC: no working template after upgrade to 2.5

no working template after upgrade to 2.5 18 Jan 2014 17:35 #3696

Hi,

I don't have much exposure to inner working of Joomla. At the moment I'm stuck with blank screen no matter what template I used after upgrading 1.5 to 2.5 through jupgrade.

At first I thought I have to modify the templatedetails.xml to conform with Joomla 2.5 but after closely following the tips given on this website I'm still getting blank screen. The built-in templates are not working as well.

I am hoping someone familiar with this issue can help me out. Thanks.

sincerely,
Andy

I discovered the 1.5 templates, which is useless because I read the templatedetails.xml needs to be modified.

Modified one template as best as I can but still no better results.

I assume using the built-in 2.5 templates (atomic and both beezs) will at least show my website, but it still produce blank screen. The upgraded website's address is www.gammastudclinic.com/jupgrade

Back-end is working fine though, I can check on the articles and such.

This is the error I've got:
**Component not found**

Call stack
# Function Location
1 JSite->dispatch() /home1/gammast1/public_html/jupgrade/index.php:42
2 JComponentHelper::renderComponent() /home1/gammast1/public_html/jupgrade/includes/application.php:197
3 JError::raiseError() /home1/gammast1/public_html/jupgrade/libraries/joomla/application/component/helper.php:337
4 JError::raise() /home1/gammast1/public_html/jupgrade/libraries/joomla/error/error.php:251

sincerely,
Andy

I think this errors are not template related, in the error message are joomla core files listed, i would try to download joomla and:

delete installation folder and rewrite all other files by "jupgrade", or check your homepage link, is there true?

Yes, I don't believe the template is at fault here. Even built-in ones are not working properly.

I upgraded twice with Jupgrade already, and still the same blank screen. Only now I know how to turn on error reporting and it seems my Virtuemart component is outdated. Turned that off, yet still more errors.

I also resorted to both redMigrator RESTful and database methods, but they never completed the migration. For this one I installed a clean Joomla 3 from Mojo; somehow redMigrator can't be installed on Joomla 2.5.

My best bet is still with JUpgrade. The only culprit is the front end blank screen. I ran out of options here.
