TOPIC: image gallery on portfolio/blog items

image gallery on portfolio/blog items 11 Feb 2014 17:00 #3925

hello everyone,
I wonder if it is possible to get the gallery when I click on the image inside an item.
Looking at your demo installation for example, if I click on the "Glass Entry" to open the item, I would like to get a popup with the SIGPro gallery when I click on the right-side image in place of the hi-res version of the same image. I'm actually uploading the galleries from Flickr sets
I do not get the effect I'm looking for if I display the gallery inside the item's body (using the "gallery" tags), nor if I enable the gallery visualization on the right side instead of the image itself.
Any clue?
Regards

Hi m.freak,
I did, and also I've looked around on the forum, finding nothing useful.
But probably I didn't explain well what I mean. I took some screenshots therefore.
1. if I select an item (portfolio or blog) I get this view:
This image is hidden for guests. Please log in or register to see it.
2. if I click on the image on the right, I get a pop-up showing the hi-res version of the image:
This image is hidden for guests. Please log in or register to see it.
3. instead, I would like to have a gallery here, something like the following:
This image is hidden for guests. Please log in or register to see it.
This gallery has been configured inside the item from the Image Gallery tab, uploading it directly from Flickr.
Hope you can help.
Thanks in advance.

I don't know if the answer is still useful, but I think I managed to do just what you want.

1. In category view upload one picture and upload a gallery which has that picture as the first one.

2. In the settings of the item view make sure to put the picture to hide. Not: inherit category settings.

3. If you want your pictures to have different descriptions you can choose within the settings of the Simple Image Gallery plugin for: read contents of caption files. You can edit the files to your need

4. Now if you click on the picture in item view you get the whole gallery.

Hello Marianne,
thanks a lot for your contribution, and sorry for the delay.
I'm probably getting your help wrong, 'cause it seems it doesn't work from my side, or it doesn't deliver what I'm looking for actually...
This is what I did:
1. uploaded an image for the item, from the "Item" tab;
2. uploaded a zip from the "Image Gallery" tab;
3. set the "Item view options" as:
- Image: Hide;
- Image Gallery: Show (otherwise I get nothing to click on to show the gallery).
Is this what you mean? Because I already tried this solution at the very beginning, but I binned it since it has many drawbacks, including the fact that the FB comment frame (check my screenshots above) is displayed twice, one under the article, and one under the gallery...
Please be so kind to include screenshots if you have any hint for me, it would be really useful.
Thanks in advance.
Daniele
